Stay were I'm at or...

Currently I am working for a small company in the manufacturing vein. I get my steady salary and I'm pretty much king dog when it comes to modern electronic business, I'm the go to guy here.
This has it's pro's and con's. I will try to explain as short as possible: - Pro's: Having total control of my own department brings flexible hours, say over all projects at hand and full responsibility for them. I am the only guy that creates and finishes web related and print projects. This gives me full creative control. It's nice to have full control because the end product is EXACTLY what I envisioned.
- Con's: Being the only guy working in this field presently and accepting full responsibility comes it's own set of consequences.
- If a project falls behind, I am also the "go to guy" when things aren't
complete. - When the bosses don't understand the process of time it takes to complete said projects.
- I have to compete with demands from people whom don't really understand how long it takes to handle scripts, graphics, creativity, answering emails, public relations, communications with third party operations and phones calls.
- Hours are sometimes abused when a project deadline is near and I have to take the project home.
- I wear many hats. The list goes on and on...
Currently I have been offered a job at a full time web company. I'm considering it because I'd like to have others to bounce things off of creatively. It seems it would be a much comfortable way to make a living being part of a team of people working on a project rather than one guy doing it all?
I don't know this because I have never technically worked for a web company exclusively.
What should a web producer with some scripting skills require for a salary?
Any thoughts or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I will have to say that being part of a team that way where you can bounce ideas and things off your teammates IS an advantage. I've done both - 'sole source' and team (currently). While being part of a team brings it's own set of challenges, I think its far less stressful in the long haul than having to handle EVERYTHING on your own.
Those people that have no idea how long it takes to do things - they never go away, but with a team you can spread things out so you're not the only one burning the midnight oil.

I agree with what has already been said.
It is also more about what makes you happier, if you are currently going home everyday stressed, and unhappy then you need to find a change.
A job is not a job when it is something you enjoy doing, and if you enjoy getting up each day and going in to do your job then is that really a JOB?
You have to think about what truly makes you happy here.

I agree with shawn about the happiness point. Which would you be happier at - which would you enjoy more? I would also say that working as a team is a huge plus. More ideas, more feedback, and potentially more motivation from team members.

Go for it !
I've worked as the lone guy too, and after 2 years, I was down.
I'm a programmer by passion, but programming in the first place is about reflections, planification and ideas.
When you are alone in your field, you don't evolve much.
When you are "playing catch" with other peoples, it can bring you to more reflections and really pull you in front of ideas.
It's a source of new ideas, and I find it always thrilling.
You can do this by yourself, and I found that this forum is one of the best place to that, with all the great peoples answering questions here, but having "THE" idea, sipping on your coffe cup, and explaining it to the other members of your team is far more exciting...

Congrats. Wish I could have responded earlier... my one concern is "I wear many hats. The list goes on and on..."
Personally, I LOVE wearing many hats. If I do one single thing, I get super bored. That's why I have erm, 6 jobs?

Congrats Denny. Sorry I didn't notice this thread when you were looking for advice, but I think it's safe to say you did well without mine anyway.
Do you start Monday or are you taking a few days off in between?

Actually, we have been going through a few counter offers. I am very excited that they are continuing to work with me on salary. This shows me they are equally excited about hiring me as I am about working for them.
I should know tomorrow.
Thanks vangogh

Congratulations on getting the new job. Are you giving up pay for this new career? I love web development and think that it is one of the most fulfilling things that a person can do (as long as you do it right). Make sure you keep us updated about how your switch goes

Whats the salary offer, if you don't mind me asking?
Also, what are your qualifications?

Well, I counter offered and the company I now work for has also begun offering me more. (Maybe they got wind of my other offer? ... Not sure how that happened? LOL!) My current company is offering my own office (not a cubicle) and increased flexibility and pay.
Sheesh... This is getting harder and harder to decide.
My qualifications are not what I would consider the reason I'm getting offers. Both companies have seen what kind of work I'm capable of I guess?

If your current company really wants to keep you and if you want to stay there, see if they'll also knock a couple of the cons off your list.

As much as they'll give you + incentive commissions.
Or is that asking too much?
Good luck with the job, let us know how it turns out.

It might be getting more complicated, but it's a good problem to have. You now have two companies that want you and at least one is willing to compete against the other to offer more.
Good luck with the choice. I know it's not an easy one.
