I've been using Dreamweaver but I believe I'd also like to use Ultraedit since it's a text editor and DW is WYSIWYG. I'm thinking it would be a good idea but I'm not sure.

Do you feel that's a good idea and good thinking on my part or since I've been using DW just stick with it only?

Thanks!

It doesn't really matter what you use, you can hand code in Dreamweaver quite easily if you want to.

My advice is to use a text editor for coding. The code will be clean.
This also gives you flexibility and you can create a much simple and easy to read code
I do not trust wysiwyg software. I code by hand

OK. So I guess you'd say UltraEdit because Dreamweaver is WYSIWYG.

Just threw out the question because it's got me alittle curious and UltraEdit is a text editor and DW is WYSIWYG editor. I guess that would be considered the major difference.

Doesn't anyone else use Dreamweaver as a text editor?? Its code editing features are top of the line. I have used Ultraedit, and although it supports more code types than Dreamweaver does (it will highlight most of the C-family of languages), in my opinion Dreamweaver does a better job, and has better shortcuts for most web-related code, including PHP, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Why in the heck does everyone always call Dreamweaver a WYSIWYG? It has those features, but those are certainly not its strongest features, IMHO.

Ultraedit does have project management features, and tabbed pages, with integrated FTP access, but I found this part of the program to be less elegant than Dreamweaver.

Ultraedit is less costly than Dreamweaver, and is definately oriented toward the coder. It has support for more languages, and does a fine job, but I think that Dreamweaver is better for most common web development tasks.

Just one mans opinion.
