HI can anybody tell me if it is possible to add a hidden counter to an mp3 on my website so that i can track how many people have clicked on the music. I will have a few songs on the page and want to track all of them individually..
any hlee would be appreciated. Thank You

I don't think MP3s have that kind of element....

You could do that through a JavaScript onclick event, combined with a bit of of AJAX and server-side code.

Set up a google analytics's account and you can check how many people have clicked on certain links on you page or in your case mp3s.

You can also make the mp3 play in a new (small) window and have the page it is on tracked.

There are quite a few ways to track. Javascript for one, and there are a few neat little scripts at http://php.resourceindex.com where you can keep tabs on your links, Hits in, people hot linking, daily etc.etc.

Right. But it's not an ID3 element, which is what I thought the OP had asked.

If you can edit an MP3 file by adding a counter directly to the MP3 file, it would open a whole can of worms because that means the MP3 file would have permissions on it that would let you write to it, and you can inject dangerous code into it.

That was the thought process behind my answer, at least.

You can track it. If you`re controlling the play button through javascript, you can add to the link a script that onClick sends through ajax and php the IP of the one who clicked to your database for storage. This was you can make sure there are unique clicks. For a player that is controllable through javascript you might wanna check THIS one. I hope it`s helpful.

i also wanted that to.....like in imeem it is post how many times your music had been playing...is there any way? huh?
