Would it be best to go with a Web based type of software e.g.. an SBI one (which is a yearly subscription purchase). OR or a software/disk one e.g. XSitePro (which is a one time purchase) ???
OR a regular Web host, such as (Bluehost – Hostgator – or go daddy) .
I would like some flexibility / creativity in, what ever I do finally purchase.

How is BLuehost, hostgator, or godaddy a website building software?

I think some hosting companies offer a site builder package, where you sign up to a years hosting and part of the members area is some website creater tool. It all depends what sort of site your trying to achieve, I'm pretty sure there is some free software out there under the GNU license

If your willing to purchase a script, why not host a contest and get some quality work done?

It all depends in what your really looking for. There are websites out there which will give you reviews about all the major design software. Just go to google and type in reviews for website software. The decision is based on what your really looking for so i would recommend you do some reviews about different software/programs. You can start by purchasing Dreamweaver, then Photoshop, and for good measure throw in Fireworks just for kicks. Then, once you are out of pocket more than $1000, come back here and we'll teach you how to use them.

I have used free software packages for a long time but now that I am taking things more seriously I switched to Dreamweaver. I love it! I would definitely recommend it. I wasn't real impressed with a version I had seen a friend use years ago, but I love the new CS3 package. I have Photoshop CS3 as well and I am really pleased with them.
