That's what i have so far.

I was thinking about adding on a navigation something like this below (not these colors, just this style), and have the navigation imagemap or should i just do the navigation in the css?

Also, i was wondering, should i leave the content section white? or.. ?

Thanks, i'd appreciate any feedback.

White is always good. If you had to colour it at all try a very light cream.

it think the white is good, it give emphasis to your content and all eyes are concentrated at center, and it does not give traffics to the eyes that delivers confusion....

Keep the page white, and make the elements colored. I'm not sure about the navigation, but I don't think you should use a white gradient on a white background unless it's to start of the content.

I would definitely stay away from the image map for navigation, they are not good for accessibility or search engines. Better to use a background image and REAL text for your navigation using CSS.

I would most definitely do the navigation in CSS. It will help with a better load time and it will have a higher potential of validating. If you need any help on different menus visit this link. I found this site to be quite amazing when it comes to menus in CSS.

I'd use CSS - images tend to create problems with usability, even if you 'hide' text under them. You could, if you have Flash, even use Scalable Inman Flash Replacement (sIFR), but that's your choice, and only really has a point if you are going to use a non-safe font.
