Are you the only one behind the design of your website or are there others involved either with your company, or those you hire out and sub the work? If its something that isn't time consuming I will try and just do it on my own but sometimes I just really don't want the hassle.

I'm 100% responsible for my website good or bad. The time it takes to design and develop a website depends on what you want it to do. I've built sites in a matter of hours and I've built them over the course of months.

If you don't want to spend much time why not use something liek WordPress. In a half hour or so you can have a site up and running with a theme of your choice.

If its my own personal site I will do it myself, but I also sub things out when I don't want to play code monkey and stare at the screen for hours on end. No offense to anyone that does their own work at all, I just do better telling someone what I see the site going as rather than trying to do it myself. I'm a writer, not a coder. Awesome for the replies though, I guess after all the years playing web designer I don't really want to spend the time on it if I don't have to.

Well, who likes spending countless hours looking at code! However, it's much nicer to know that your website is YOUR website. For BLD Hosting (My business) I feel comfortable knowing that I'm a part in all major aspects. Which are security, the website itself, sales, support, etc... It's just better to know that you're not left in the dark.

I have no problem laying out what I want and the functionality, but starting at that code - I dont pay myself enough for that we can say. I do give full credit when people design things for me and use them for client side jobs as well, but doing it myself I would rather have a hole in my head.
