I have done several of these contests and i should have won but no they almost all mind you just post an ad say they want this or that but never decide on what they want. They also say you have the best work but they will decide soon but soon turns to later and well it ticks me off they put a stop date on the contest and dont hold anyone to it and have the nerve to continue posting the same contest over and over again why call it a contest at all?

I suppose a "benefit" of graphic design contests is to get your work out there, or to try things you've never done before. I personally don't like doing them, but they can be helpful.

I have brought your issue up with the rest of the staff. I know some changes were being considered for the Design Contest area.

There has to be better way to get your work out there with less hassle.

I do alot of promo work but i would rather know it is to just get my name out there you know. This site gives me about 300 ppl a week so i know someone is looking at my work i was just meaning the contests seem to be more or less a guide with no real ending or set end date.

Such "design contests" and "website awards" are in many cases only intended to build links for the target website or for ad agencies to "borrow" ideas.

Forget about such contests, unless organized by a renowned advertising agency, chances are high that they just try to market their own products, get e-mail addresses from participants or do other "bad" stuff.

A valuable part of other forum contests is:
"If you do a contest at this forum, you must chose a winner here"

I think this would improve WT

and some guidelines for a brief could be helpful to all too.

like format(s) (including whether or not it's for print use)
size
colours (if any preferred)
date
etc etc

I think thats already on here also the poster might not like any of the contestants submissions but at least give an ending post saying that there was no winner and charge them if they want to stretch the contest date. Something to separate the spam from real.
