Hi Guys,
Sorry to ask such an arkward one on a first post. I am designing a new site for our company, and I know at the moment it looks a bit odd, but we have longer term plans for it. My biggest problem is something I am still trying to get my head around and would appreciate feedback.

Basically the site is: http://things2do.ie/cvcv/index1.html

Works well in IE7, slight issues in IE6 and firefox is a complete no go.

I know this is a bit of a big request but can anybody tell me how to get the site to look the same in Firefox as in IE7. I really have racked my brains using various different solutions including CSS z-index, SWF object 2.0 javascripting (which made the situation worse in both browsers instead of just firefox - so I reverted back to 1.5). I am really heart set on this concept and I am only a student so it would be a massive favour to be advised by the great minds of webmaster talk on what to do to fix the problems.

Basically:
- Make site display same in Firefox as IE7

Aware Of:
- The fact the site is going to part of a template and hence is only at a stage where I am trying to do that.
- I am not bothering to tidy code / meta data until I get it working the same in both browsers.
- The site validates roughly in W3C, or atleast doesn't show up any errors to say blatently - THIS IS WRONG.
- It could be a problem to do with the way flash is implemented.
- Could it be to do with the clickable collapsing java divs? (I know this is an issue in IE6 to be solved).

Many thanks in advance and I really do appreciate the help, I'm not looking for a review, just advice on whats up there working, I know it's very rough code/ design.

Regards,
Baz

First lesson - never design a site using IE as your measure. If you make it display in Firefox the way you want, IE can be beaten into submission to display the same way.

1 - You don't need most of that positioning. I can see it for the flash on the side, but not everything else.
2 - You #hld div is NOT 'wrapping' what's supposed to be INSIDE it because you have not CLEARED your floats - which you must do.

Not sure what's wrong with the Flash in Firefox, I use swfObject all the time w/o any problems.

Hi LadynRed,
Sorry I got bogged down in stuff. Thanks I'm going to give that a go hopefully tonight, but it seems to make a bit of sense

I'll let you know how I get on with it!
