Yeah set give the image a div:

<div id=theimage>
Image tag
</div>

CSS

#theimage{
margin-left: 20px;
margin-top: 20px;
}

Use the regular document flow to place it more or less where you want it to go. Using margin-top won't help you in that case.

It may not be at all necessary to put the image in a div, it may suffice to just give the image a class with those rules to place it where you want it.

We need to see your code or the site to really help here.

I suggest you learn a bit more about CSS layouts:
http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=CssLayouts

That code is all over the place. You need a bit more organization on your structure.
