the absolute best site creator out there right now?

Who would you say comes close to rivaling it, if not being in ways better than Dreamweaver?

I have only used pure HTML, and Dreamweaver was the easiest thing for me to use because it is pretty bullet proof and easy to create quality sites with advanced features.

Dreamweaver is a 'big' program, I prefer using the simpler (and free) Notepad++ for minor edits, but you need to know what you want to do.

I like Dreamweaver because I am very accustomed to the way it highlights the code for me, and the shortcuts it has for the keyboard. It has excellent project organization, shortcuts for code-snippets (I never use theirs, but write my own), and has great support for many languages.

I'm sure there are other excellent options, but I stick with DW because I know it well.

I have been using DreamWeaver for all my web projects and I must say I'm very satisfied with it's features. But you can't rely entirely on it's WYSIWYG editor, you still need to go into the code view to fine tune the source. The thing I like about the editor is that it will auto close the tags for you, which I find very convenient.

I like Dreamweaver for two reasons. FTP site and file management, and auto complete code feature that finishes lines of code automatically.

Even though I wouldn't recommend it for the beginner (creates laziness some can't shake ), it serves it's purpose...

One of the major drawbacks is the code re-write on save and upload that really screws code up from time to time. (Yes I have disabled it) it still re-writes certain code. Two thumbs down for that!

I've been looking at Dreamweaver too.

I've used HotDog for years when I only had one or two sites at a time to write pages for, but now I am writing pages and content for 6 different sites and HotDog just takes too long. Plus the last version of HotDog is a piece of garbage that doesn't work well with XP.

My quandry is whether to buy just Dreamweaver, or buy one of the SUITE
packages. The suite is really expensive for me. Plus, i am seeing all forms and types of pricing all over the net. Ebay, all these software discount places, et.......Most of those software deals sound price great but I want a legit copy of the current Windows product for a great price.

Not some one time only piece of grayware I can't register or update. Nor do I want an Academic Version that I will always wonder if someone will sue over and my name would get caught on a list.

Adobe is getting worse than Microsoft on their pricing and greed.
