I am creating a small site for a employee recruiting company. The site is very simple with only a few informational pages. The client also wants to have a page that shows a list of currently unfilled job positions. Click on a job title and be taken to that posting's Job Description page.

I intend to use a database to manage the postings and PHP to call the DB and format the job description pages uniformly. However, I need the client to be able to make the additions, deletions and edits once I have set everything up for them. I figured I could make a page for the administrator to sign in to and then create the user interface forms to allow them to make changes to the list. This sounds like a lot of work (although I am not sure about that). I am hoping that there might be an easier solution using software that might make the interfacing part easier for me.. Sort of an open source job manager program I can integrate. I haven't used CMS solutions before but they seem a little daunting for such a small site..

Anyone have any tips for this?

Forget the cms.
And I don't think you'll be able to find a generic software neither. The interface is too much tied to the DB schema, and there are hundreds of way to design what you have.

You will be quicker to mash up a set of simple pages that will allow your customer to update the db than modifying something already existing.

I have done something similar. In my case, the employee recruiting company not only wanted to add/edit/delete job postings, but also allow users to submit resumes and manage those resumes through a "CRM" type interface. In case you might be looking for something like that, you would be looking for an Applicant Tracking System. There is a wonderful open source one called OpenCATS. Check it out!!!!
