I'm really new to this but was wondering if zencart, oscommerce, or any other free shopping cart software allows me to have any regular hyperlink add the item to a shopping cart.

What I'm kind of envisioning for the site is having it set up almost like a portfolio type layout, almost like what a photographer would have for their website. What would be the individual images of each of the their photograph though would be able to be clicked on and then it would take the user to a shopping cart of that item where it would allow them to select a size (clothing).

This pretty easy to do? What software should I look into? Any good tutorials on this?

Thanks in advance.

Something similar to this kind of style.

or

Something like that where you would click an image and it would just go to the store to select which size you wanted. Would this be pretty easy to do?

Don't.

using links to add items to your cart means that every spider/crawler/bot will add an item then abandon the cart each time they crawl the link.

You know any way to do something like I am talking about? I could have a seperate link under the image or something or just text to add the item? I really like the layouts of pages like that and think it would look really good for what we are trying to do.

Yep, just pass the parameters as querystrings so you use a GET request instead of a POST request.

cart.ext?something=whatever&somethingelse=whicheve r
