I have two sites with problems:

www.jelias.com. The pics and graphics disappear but text remains when viewed through dial up.

www.leafa.com. People on dial up can't see anything.

I get the same problem viewing them with Broadband..

The problem is the file permissions on the pictures..

You need to make them readable..
So CHMOD them to 644 or rw-r--r-- Depending on your FTP program

Hope this helps

So the problem is how I upload them to my host's server? I am a novice at this and will get my more capable brother to read your answer and hopefully fix the problem.

Thanks!

It could be how you are uploading them.. probally the FTP program you are using.. If you havent changed the file permissions yourself it must be setting it as the default file permissions..

For example.. If you find the location of the image at the top of the page..

http://www.jelias.com/picts/main.jpg

and try to visit it.. You will see you cant view the image because of the file permissions

I checked the permissions and they are set to rw-r-r- on all files. Anyone have any other ideas?

I am on a dialup.
I can see both the websites' homepage.

In second site, when i load it on Mozilla Firefox browser, the error message is
"The image “http://www.leafa.com/bg1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."

In second site, the bg3.jpg is not viewable.
See, the JPG file you have created is not in RGB format. that's my guess.
Did you convert from from a Print document. Print docs will be in CMYK format.
For internet files, you have to create jpg files in RGB mode.

Load the JPG file in Adobe Photoshop and check the mode.

All the jpegs for Leafa.com are in RGB mode. I just got another report that someone can only see the homepage for Leafa.com but nothing else??

The problem on jelias.com has been corrected. I had disabled hot linking in my control panel. I thought preventing hot linking was to protect against other sites stealing bandwidth. Am I an idiot?

Thanks to those that helped.
