Hello! It's been a while since I've been on this site. No particular reason but work I guess.

My questions is this.

I hate the thought of being yet another guy that wants an email campaign but, how, what program and/or service is used to send bulk emails with the "un-subscribe" link.

Is there an email CMS of some sort that would track the email or, is this type of marketing mainly handled through a third party a service?

Thanks for any info

I don't know how most people handle this, but services like this are pretty handy: http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/

Hey Denny, I highly recommend Campaign Monitor - campaignmonitor.com - very flexible, lots of available templates that work across lots of email clients, easy list management -- and very, very reasonable cost-wise.

I have asked this in other forums but are there any issues with campaignmonitor.com and e-mails going to the spam/junk folder? I like the idea of running an e-mail campaign/e-mail advertising though

ugh. I have to build email newsletters for a couple of companies. One uses YourMailingListProvider.com and the other uses ConstantContact.com. Both feature unsubscribe systems, they have to as I believe it's the law to do so.

Looking at the stats of the ones that get sent out, there's about a 25% opening rate. The click through rate for them is tiny.

Personally, I pretty much ditch all bulk email I receive before I read them. I often wonder what's the point?

You are not allowed to leave and then come back. (just kidding)

I personally like Mailchimp. The thing with these 3rd party managers is they not only take care of the stats and unsubscribe, but they also send the email out in plain text format for those who block html emails.

I'm not sure if you are still looking but I tried Your Mailing List Provider. I've only sent a few tests out but it looks good so far, although it did go straight into my junk folder.

You should try VerbCMS that includes a full-featured E-Mail newsletter engine that allows your clients to keep up with their customers. Newsletters can be composed, previewed, and sent directly from the Verb backstage.

If you want to pay you can get a program that will send email blasts with the follwup to cancel future emails. Email people who gave you the right and they will contact you if they want to stop the emails. You can just put it in writing and have them send you a folowup email.
