At work, I uploaded our company web site, http://www.sumnergroup.com.

Some of the graphics load, others do not. They preview fine, locally. I went back, verified the path, and tried uploading the grahics in question - one at a time. However I get the following error:

An FTP error occurred - cannot get (filename.gif).
Access Denied. the file may not exist, or
there could be a permission problem.

Since I know each file exists, I figure there must be a permission problem. I went to a different host - GoDaddy.com - and uploaded the exact same site there under the url: http://www.sumnergroupusa.com. . . no problems. All graphics load as they should.

Am I right in assuming that the problem is with the host and not problems on my end?

Any suggestions?

Everything works fine here.

On what page you are getting the errors.

Sometimes, it may be due to the "browser" space. Try clearing the cache and reload the page in your browser.
Might work.

On a second thought, I think you are in a *nix server.
While uploading the files, have you converted the file names into lowercase ones?

It seems so.

*nix servers are case sensitive.

It's strange why some pics will load and others do not - even though they are in the same folder. . . would also explain moving to a different server (GoDaddy.com), fixes the problem. . . . I'll give that a try on Monday - thanks so much for your suggestion . . .

vivekar,

You saved the day! Couldn't wait until Monday. Tried changing all photos to lowercase and uploaded to the server from home. Well, what do you know . . . every pic I changed to lowercase, works fine now!

You taught me a valuable lesson - always use lowercase when naming pics and docs.

Thanks so much!!!!!

Reggie

This is a common problem when people switch hosts. Some UNIX/Linux servers are strictly case-dependent and thus unless the filename is EXACT, the web server will not properly load the images.
