How can I prevent Real Player from allowing people to download my embedded videos?

Not sure I'm posting in the right section... but I was alarmed to find out that people can download flash embedded videos with the click of a button using real players' "Download this video" technology.

This is scary because I don't want my videos to be downloaded... Of course, I know there's no way to fool-proof this, but is there any way I can stop real player from blatantly making it so easy for people to download my flash videos?

Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of, and I'm a little bit delighted to learn about this. But, luckily for you, there are as many people using Real Player as the number of posts you've made here.

You can do some tricky network trace stuff and see whether it requests the content by standard means announcing a user agent, or something similar, and block it. But keep in mind it's a small problem if no one uses Real. I honestly wouldn't have guessed they were even still in business!

LOL

I guess... but the thing is they've made it so easy for someone to snatch your videos and that's what pisses me off... Who else would come out which such a thing but those idiots!

If anyone knows of a way to prevent this... Please let me know.

Thank you for your reply Newbie.

I contacted Real Player (Pro) support about this. I paid £20 for this info. Basically, Real Player themselves don't know how to fix this issue. What a joke.
Steven : I have developed a media player in Flash and visitors who use Real Player are presented with an option to "Download This Video". This is an infringement on my copyright and I would like to be able to disable this. Do you have any meta-tags or any programming available that I can use to stop this from appearing.
Steven : This Real Player pop-up doesn't occur when using YouTube, for example, even though we're using very similar systems.
Wayne: I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Wayne: Sure, I can help you with the required information.
Steven : I'm now a paid up member, can you now provide me with the information I require?
Wayne: Sure, I can help you with the required information.
Wayne: Please give me couple of minutes to pull up your account information.
Steven : Ok
Wayne: Sure, I can help you with the required information.
Steven : So what code can I use to stop the Download This Video notice for all visitors to my website?
Wayne: Please give me couple of minutes while I check on the information.
Wayne: Open RealPlayer and click on tools-->preferences-->download and recording please uncheck the option enable web downloading and recording.
Steven : No, this is not what I asked
Steven : Read my question again.
Wayne: Okay, that's fine in order to unhide that option download this video you have to contact the web master of that particular site where you are posting it.
Steven : I am the webmaster
Steven : I am asking you
Steven : The manufacturer of the software that's causing the problem
Steven : Are you investigating this issue for me?
Wayne: Sorry we don't have enough information regarding thiat.
Steven : What do you mean?
Steven : Listen, on some sites like YouTube, for example, hovering over the video does not cause the "Download This Video" box to appear. What instructions have you given to them? How can I prevent this box in the same way?
Wayne: Please give me couple of minutes while I check on the information.
Steven : Thank you Wayne.
Wayne: Sorry Steven,we don't have sufficient information regarding this and I request you to make copy right the video that you are posting it.
Steven : You cannot copyright FLV files.
Steven : There is no digital rights management for this video format.
Steven : Wayne, I became a member for the only reason being to get this information... YOU PROMISED me that you could give me the answer
Steven : That is why I became a member.
Steven : So you told me you could give me the information, now you say you don't have the information.
Steven : You lied to me.
Wayne: No,Steven I just thought you are trying to protect the content from your player.
Steven : I explained my issue very clearly. You said you could help me with the required information. Do you have the information?
Steven : Wayne, are you there?
Wayne: Sorry Steven I have misunderstood your issue.
Steven : I would like you to process a refund of the money I paid please.
Wayne: Okay, that's fine please give me couple of minutes while I process your refund.
Steven : Many thanks.
