Help, please. Although I have never designed a website, I have been assigned to design the look of our company's new website. I started in Illustrator and set the width at 860px as requested by our web developer. I've got the banner and nav bars done and they looked great in Illustrator. Our developer wanted a PSD file, so I exported my file to PSD, like I have done in the past with many of my files for print. When I open it in PhotoShop and assign the lower resolution, the text on my nav buttons and dropdowns is very grainy, small and hard to read. The text in Illustrator varied between 8 and 14 pt type. I tried retyping the text in PhotoShop but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Can anyone help or give me guidance on how to handle this issue?

You really shouldn't be using images of text for navigation anyway, better to leave the button blank and let the person coding the site put the REAL text on the button with HTML and CSS.

When you're in Photoshop, in the Character palette for the button text - do you have anti-aliasing set ?? You do need that.

It really would be better to add the text in Photoshop after you pull in the rest of it from Illustrator. You also need to check your resolution - Illustrator is generally 300ppi, whereas web images are 72.
