I have my game websites completely build using HTML. I want to build my website more attractively containing, member log in, forums, more attractive images with best look & many features.


Nowadays, I am learning mysql database, php & CSS. Is it ok for managing the above i described? or sholud i learn more like AJAX or .NET any idea? Please suggest me! I want to make my website just like the category of bigfish, reflexive, iwin, playfirst etc.

Php & mysql is a good start.

Your probably best touching up your CSS first though, it'll make things easier in the long run.

ASP.NET and PHP are conceptually the same thing. ASP.NET is a richer and more powerful development environment, while PHP costs less to host. Since your web site will only use one or the other of them, if you've already begun learning PHP, you're better off continuing down that path until you have a compelling reason to jump ship.

why not use plug and play program and cms managers and spend your time making fresh content and marketing?

Would second the PHP and MySQL suggestion! Those two are the most powerful tools you should need to learn first!

I'd like to point out that AJAX is not a technology by itself. AJAX is just a catch phrase that represents a maturing concept based around the XML HTTP request object in the JavaScript language. The is the main method which JavaScript uses to communicate with a server in todays web applications, and allows us to create web applications that update site content without a page refresh based on new information from the server. Don't study this until:

1. You have a good handle on JavaScript itself as a language.
2. You are confident in the server side language of your choice (I use PHP).
3. You know how to make database queries. The easiest and most common choice to go along with PHP is MySQL.

Try to learn .Net!!! It'll help you in your work!

Your choice is the best. But if you want to more learn then start java script but at first do complete which you choice.

Gaming site?

I'd learn DOS programming first. Any book published by Wrox is good.
Then I'd learn C language, followed by ++
That should take you a good 3-5 years. And you may be able to document a resume package on floppy (preferably a b: drive) to gain the attention of game developers such as Microsoft, whom I believe manufactures the Xbox360 and a couple hundred games for the system.

Or you could always revert to copying a few open source .fla applications and maybe dabble in javascript. Hopefully your end user can even see it. I know my system has it disabled.
