Problem With Template Management in DW

I am currently making a very large site for myself for which I want to use many templates – as in 20 to 30. In the past I never had any problems as I worked with 4 to 5 templates per site at most. But now that I will be using this many I don’t want them all to be inside the “Templates” folder that Dreamweaver creates by default.

Instead I want to put my templates under different sub folders so that I can manage them better. But when I make a sub folder within the original “Templates” folder and move some of my templates inside, Dreamweaver ceases to recognize those templates that were moved. By this I mean when I go to File>>New >> Page From Template, none of the templates that were moved inside the sub folders show up. Is there any solution to this?

Thanks to all in advance.

Have you tried pointing it to the NEW location for the template you want to use ?
Why on earth would you use 20-30 different templates to start with ?

I'm beginning to think that's a bad idea as well. I'm thinking of how I can accomplish what I have in my mind without using this many templates...

Thanks for the reply.

Have you tried navigating to the new template sub-folder from there ??

20-30 templates is going to be a nightmare to manage. If you want your site to be cohesive and consistent, you don't want to change the layout and have it all over the place.

Oh that, that was naturally the first thing I tried and that doesn't work. I spoke to some of the experts at adobe forums and they let me know that in a DW site there can be only one Templates folder - no sub folders - nothing. Thanks anyway and yeah after doing a lot of thinking I decided not to use more than six templates - one for each page type that I'm going to use.

If you're after on several templates on a web site, that can be done in PHP. DreamWeaver follows dynamic content of a site so it only acknowledge only one template and ignores the other.
