What are laws on posting news on your website.
Do you have to have permission or can you post them if you site them.
Can you post any press releases or do they have to be sent directly to you to be posted.

Hi Kyle, a press release in it's very nature is a release to the press, if it has been issued to the news media, that statement is for anyone to use, you don't need permission.

In terms of copying news from other websites, that's a real no-go area and is indeed plagiarism, you can of course re-report any news story as long as you place it in your own words.

Ensure the press releases you post are from official sources, don't copy them from a news website, it could be that it's been edited to suit that particular media.

I should note that while plagiarism isn't illegal (unless of course the work has been copyrighted, such as a novel) it is frowned upon however. General news media text releases aren't covered by the same copyright terms as images.

Thanks,
Andy

Is this something you copy on a press site and paste on your site? Seriously, I don't understand much what's the question! lol

If you are referring of submitting your own written content to press release sites, you can freely submit them but should wait for the approval of the editor of the site.

If you are the editor of a press release site, you can post a written content to your site. They might be of your own or submitted to you by other writers.

You can reword the story yourself or ask permission from the site it comes from. There will be little value in you using an article that's already been indexed by the search engines, so you would be better of re-writing the article yourself.
