This website is a fan site for The Simsons. You can watch all The Simpsons episodes free. I have been working on this project for about a week. It is progressing very nice but i am just not liking the layout. I was going for the "simple" look mostly because the website will be over 500 pages and i did not want to get to complicated. But to me the layout is not working out. I appreciate any comments, suggestions, or criticism, relating to this website and/or its layout. And I am also looking for a partner for this website and other websites relating to tv shows.

Few things, firstly, I'm pretty sure this websites content is illegal so a moderator will probably want to remove this link, however, I'll give you a little critizism on the design.

Firstly - Your header is over 500KB, I have MP3's that are smaller.. you need to optimize this....

Secondly - You're using Javascript for your link randomizer, that is seriously slowing the load time down also.

Thirdly - Your menu buttons are very low quality and using a very basic font.

Overall, it looks like something I would have seen in 1999, not at all modern.

& finally, I repeat myself, it's not legal...

Have to agree... what you're doing there is NOT legal, better get yourself a lawyer on retainer - you're going to need it if the owners/creators find that.

Oh, but it is legal. I have my own lawyer in the matter as i have other tv network sites. I do not host ANY of the videos on the website. they are just links to video hosts themselves such as you tube. There was one instance where someone was arrested in BRITAIN, but those charges did not even stick themselves as the police only arrested him to search his home for illegal video producing tools but none were found.

I do have to agree with Andy though, it does look like a 1990's era web site.

Oh, but it isn't, it's certainly a legal loophole, you are correct. However, in the instance that you haven't technically relinquished your ownership over the videos (you are claiming them as your own) you're heading into quite dodgy terrority, I'll give you a little advice Mike, that is to fire your 'lawyer'.

Due to lack of time, I have only been able to upload the first 5 seasons. The rest should come in a few days as I am working about 6 hours a day on this. Thanks for visiting and supporting the website!

I will make a point that you are indeed also breaking copyright law by using the images of the Simpsons characters in your banner, surely your 'lawyer' made you aware of that?

I work in the media industry, I'm pretty much textbooked up on the law surrounding this...

please read the disclaimer on my homepage.. It is only temporary until my lawyer makes the new one, but it does the job he said. I state that they are not my videos. And let me say, I am doing this as a fan not a forprofit site. The server cost on websites like this are very high and i have to update it daily. Ad revenue is minimal also.

In that instance you are contradicting yourself quite a few times, in one breath you're uploading the videos for 6 hours a day and in the other instance you're putting up a very basic design with a lot of links?

This website was made to raise awareness of the Simpsons Series and broden its fan base. We do not host videos, rather have links to the videos themselves, which then appear on our website.

I would also question the education level of your 'lawyer', I'm certainly no 'lawyer' but I'm pretty sure they need to have a basic knowledge of grammar...

I wrote that disclaimer. He said it was fine until he rewrote it. And by uploading i mean uploading the .php files that make up the site, to the server. Not uploading videos. I do not even host 1 video

OK, I honestly have no further time to get into this.

You asked for a review, my honest review is that you've got yourself a very basic website with copyright images that are not your own - you are also linking to videos that are copyright to the highest level of the law, I wish you and your 'lawyer' all the best in your business endeavour.

from his forum, this made me chuckle.

We are trying to make sure all of our videos work all of the time so we are always looking for people to help upload the episodes.

I am extremely thankful to those that have helped so far and I hope we can get a few volunteer unloaders to put a season or so up.

You are 100% in violation of their copyright, and it's the RIAA and DCMP you will have to deal with. Hulu.com has deals with the studios so they are legally providing episodes of various shows. I highly doubt you have any such deals. Generally "fan sites" are tolerated when they don't cross the line into piracy.
