Earlier on in the year my friend and I were bouncing around ideas for websites, and we came up with SongCovers.net - long description short, a Youtube for song covers.

I guess the project really did take the exact shape I wanted it to. The website was setup fine, not perfect, but fine. Visitors came, and visitors left. Maybe there wasn't the market for it. I've thought about selling the domain.

So I've been racking my brain trying to figure out if I can take another direction with it. And I'm all racked out.

I haven't used blogs for a couple years. Is there much "market" for them. I've even thought about selling the domain.

I should also mention that I don't want a turn-key adsense website. Yes, I'd like to make some money, but I also want to provide people with something useful. I've even thought about selling the domain.

Before I write a novel here, I'll wrap it up. Any ideas? Suggestions? CMS/Blog/Forum/Combo of all three?

I don't see why your original idea is not usable. You can make some money if you can build a community. Maybe it can be free video's on the front end and pay per listing on the back end of new artists?

It`s definitely a usable idea. But the competition a site like that faces, well, is Youtube.

Not saying that it can`t be done. I was originally planning for all free videos, and to gross money off of advertising alone. But that is another option I never really considered.

- Site designed to sell physical cd cases/blank cd's/dvd ect...
- Site that allows users to use multiple covers of famous songs and mix them into custom songs for users to upload/share/download or even re-sell? (Copyrights???).
- Sell the domain and get a new one?
