I would appreciate your advice. I want to develop a referral makeover website (listing products, services, reviews, etc) for makeovers. In fact I would like to show drop downs for major cities in the U.S. and have companies and services listed (those that I can make a % off of). The look: I like the look of www.dailymakeover which has blogging, product reviews, etc. Do you know of a website build-it-yourself solution that would allow a combination of video, reviews, blogs, membership, advertising space. I want to create an outlet where people can put their service in a certain category such as Hair stylists (we would have to check them out, of course, in some way) and have the hair stylist pay us a percentage. It will be like having a lot of different services where we are an affiliate or we have a pre-set arrangement.

I have worked on templated websites before but am not familiar with advertisers, affiliates, ecommerce, etc. Is there a solution I can do myself that gives me this capability and teaches me along the way? Thank you so, so much for your advice.

Are you wanting to setup your own commission based program? So that people who want their services to be listed with you sign up and pay you a commission? Commission Junction and LinkShare offer commission programs with online beauty sites. However you can't make a commission off any site not listed in their directory.

What you want to do is diffucult. Mainly because 90% of products will not be with an online affiliate program. CJ, LinkShare, and ShareASale (Google Them) will have some good products that you can earn commission off. Also amazon has a huge selection of products you can get referral from but it sounds like the product you want to list is a specialized local service which is very hard to earn referral on.
