Hi - this is a newbie question with regards to design and with a view to PR.

I am developing an online store - and have too many products to be listed on my Home Page navigation bar.

So - I thought - have a Products Link which opens to a Categories Page - which then links to the the appropriate category.

I have a few questions about this approach.

1. Is there a better way - first off ?

2. Doesn't my idea mean that I am going to have a problem optimizing my Home Page with regards to indexing and PR ?

And

3. Isn't my approach going to turn off visitors because they have to drill down to find my products ?

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I think that it is not a good idea to put the products on the home page. You have the right idea, you need to create product categories on the navigation bar and, and then create various product pages that are linked ot from the home page.

Waht kind of product are you selling?

Why dont you just have category links on the navigation bar...

So when you click the category it takes you to that category of products..

Thats how most major stores lay it out... example.. www.currys.co.uk

Thanks for the fast replies guys. What you say makes perfect sense. Our store will be selling eclectic art objects, feng shui, indoor crystal and gemstone water fountains, meditation music - a New Age World Emporium - I guess.

Of course, we will run out of room for Categories too one day :-) but I'll worry about that when it happens.
