My Aunt lives in Canada and she does a lot of charity work and have asked me to build and maintain a website for her for her church, she does not have a church per se, she is a minister and simply does charity work in her area, to be honest, she would have paid me for it but I will be doing everything for free, that's my donation to her cause, hopefully I'll get some blessings from this, which I badly need .

She knows exactly what she wants and I want to build this from scratch and not use templates, I am just beginning learning coding and will need some help here and there and would like to know if any or some of you guys here could help me put the site together please? This will both help out my Aunt and at the same time help me get my first site 'from scratch" under my belt. Any volunteers please or should I simply start posting my questions? Thanks.

Well, she knows exactly what she wants, so... it might be a good idea for you to give us an idea of what she might be thinking of, so that we could give you some ideas.

Just ask the questions, you'll probably find that very quickly your questions will either lessen in quantity or get more technical.

Nothing better than real job to make the learning curve peak sooner

Just to be clear guys, my Aunt uses her very own money to fund her charity work, she does not have a brick and mortar church to collect money from a congregation but she wants to expand her work and the purpose of a website for this is to raise more awareness and funds so she could do bigger things and help more people therefore this is definitely NOT a money making project for her personally.

and would like to have something similar but I am looking around to see if we could make this even better, just because this is a free endeavor I personally don't want it be a cheezy or cheap looking site, I want to create the best site I possible can for her. I do like this site in the link, it is simple and straightforward with no eye candy but I would like to know if could possibly spruce it up in any way? Suggestions?

Okay. I would personally recommend WordPress for that kind of endeavor. Yes, it seems like I recommend WordPress every time, but it really is a very good CMS. It's easy to use, easy to update, easy to customize, and it's pretty light as well. I can't help you with graphic design (that's my real weakness), but if you have any coding questions I might be able to help.

I'll take you up on your offer when I get to that, I am not familiar with what wordpress is, I guess I haven't encountered that yet, I will be starting CSS maybe from tomorrow or on Monday.
