well, I am certainly not an artist but I do not need fancy drawings and graphics for the most part, mainly what I need is simply to align text and get the colors and font types I desire. Is there any forum anywhere where I might get help from someone to help me design my personal logo?

I'm not sure if I can post links in here. I got a message telling me i shouldn't... anyway. There's a great book called Logo Lounge I, II, III and IV. It's about $30-40, and it's an outstanding collection of logo design ideas.

The other way is to hire a graphic design studio. If you can use our help, hit me with a PM.

Cheers,

M

Actually guys, right now I am looking into simply purchasing a logo creation software as the learning curve for the various graphics softwares out there is very difficult and requires a hell of a lot of time and headache especially if you don't have someone to teach you and you got to learn on your own.

I looked into these 2:

http://www.thelogocreator.com/

http://www.logosmartz.com/?gclid=CN-...FQq3sgodlwf-0g

but I contacted the developers first asking if their software will do exactly what I want and they said no so that's that. Most folks are telling me to purchase Xara Extreme, their tech support said it will do what I want and more so I am deciding right now becuase I already had a run-in with some of the folks on their forum.

Saying you want to create logos, but admit you have no artistic talent, doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The way I see it, like I said, I only wish to "create" my logos and not "design" them, there's a difference, mine is simple text manipulation placed on image backgrounds.

I agree. corel and illustrator are the best.
but you are going to need at least a bit of artistic talent if you are going to produce a half decent logo.

If your logos are simply going to be text manip on image background, think about how this is going to impact the image of the company/persons your are making the logos for.... there is nothing worse than a crappy logo. It makes the business look crappy and cheap.

Yeah but those are simple text logos, that's why they are free.

My vote is for Illustrator too, and yes, using vector graphics is a MUST for any logo design... simply for the scaleability factor.

I wouldn't bother learning on any other tool. Okay, maybe Corel stuff could pass too.

Sure thing you can learn a lot from many tutorials online about using the Illustrator. It is really a good software to use in terms of creating a logo. Also, don't hesitate to look for some ideas that you might be needing to create your own.

I have a handrawn sketch of the logo image I want to use for my new site, but the problem is that you can tell it's handrawn. I mean, I can't freehand a perfectly symmetric shape. So I guess that's where the vector graphics come in.

I'm so glad I found this thread, because I wasn't about to hire someone I don't know very well to do it for me, and right now I don't really want to invest in something like Illustrator. So I'm going with the free Inkscape.
