When you cant meet up with your client to talk about their web design and gather all their info..

You have to do it thru phone, fax, or e-mail..right?

When you do it thru phone, fax, or e-mail..How do you gather all their information and details for their website. Is there a template form with questions that you send them?

Thanks in advance ..

You find any way you can that works. Snail mail still works. Most people can send you information in Word (or similar) documents. If you prepare a checklist of the kinds of things you MUST have in order to build their site, that is helpful for the client.

mmmm man, u should know

when doing a website, you should know what your client wants, and you should know if what you have in mind would be suitable for what they want.

being this said, you should ask your client for:
(COMPANY) NAME
WHAT THEY WANT ON THE SITE
WHAT THEY DO

and from now on, stay in touch with them as to show them what you come up with. of course that if your client runs a SUPER-FORMAL company, you won't do a grunge design, if you know what i mean:P

use common sense to decide what kind of design would best suit your client's company (or w/e), and which colors to use.

the key to acomplishing a good suitable design is comunication. nowadays email is the easiest, but if you want to take it one step further, i'd recomend u use Skype.

hope this helps

Also, consider the breakdown of your client's site. From their home page, to the other sub-pages, navigation and structure. Some may require different pics or layout for certain pages. So creativity is a must. Also, take time to know what is the target market of the site, so you can blend it with the design and color for your layout.
