Hi guys! Just like to say I'm new to the forum, but so far it looks fantastic - plenty of people who are helpful and love to spend just 30 seconds to give advice.

My question for all of you is essentially in the title:

How do you design a website to maximize amazon affiliate sales.

Here is the website/blog I am using as a template = www.mynovelgift.com
On that website, I am experimenting selling amazon affiliate books.

What I'm doing:
1) Right now I have a mix of tactics - Image affiliate links, text affiliate links and widgets. From your own experiences, which gain the most click threw rates, and more importantly, which as a buyer would you find most useful?

What should I do:
1) Basically I'm wondering your own experiences in optimizing a site for affiliate sales. I'm going to keep affiliate sales out of sidebars (good idea, bad idea?) and embed them in posts - Google Adsense goes in sidebars IMHO... Any other tips?

It's a good start. The Amazon widget looks pretty good. Just make sure it is something of value.
