Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if anyone uses the free edition of Zone Alarm?

I am looking to see if you have had any problems with it?

If so, what are they and did you get the problem(s) fixed?

If you or someone you know actually knows the program extremely well I would to chat about it. I am wondering if some bugs are in it or if it's just not as compatible as it once was.

Regards,

Chuck

I used to use the free edition, but now I use Sygate Personal Firewall.

The only problem I had with it was that it suddenly started losing the settings every time I restarted the computer. I eventually found the solution on Google Groups (I think).

Unfortunately it was quite a while ago, so I probably couldn't help with any problems you're having now.

I used to use the free edition of Zone Alarm. I really didnt have any problems, but overall thought it was annoying to use.

I now use the built in firewall in Windows XP Professional.

I used an older version and had problems with it locking up. I went to the latest version which is alot less intrusive and seems to have this problem licked

I'm using the free version and did have problems because of sql and IIS. I did a search on the internet for the error and found out that I had to install a file in order for sql and IIS to work properly. Unfortunately, I don't remember the error I received or the file I installed, but I haven't had any problems since.

I liked Zone Alarm and it worked well for me. It conflicts with my cable, so I couldn't use it after I changed from dial-up. There are some ISP's that it conflicts with, but I don't have a list of them.
