I'm a website designer (currently a freelancer). For me, I don't earn enough income from my job, maybe because I need to be more qualified, and learn PHP and other stuff, besides I live in a developing country.
I would like to know about you, freelancers who work in web development/design, are you satisfied with your income? what's the minimum limit of skills that should you have to earn a reasonable income? how many hours a day you should work. What's the maximum income a website designer could earn.
let us know about your experience, give some tips.
I have a question to add since we're on the topic...
You people that are a professional web developers, do you work an 8-5 job... or do have an assigned date to get the website done and work your own hours?
Obviously if your freelance you work your own hours, but for the people that actually work for a company?
i think its depand on your work how hard you work on yoru website
I work hard, almost all day, except sleep hours, but I think you can do more professional websites in less time, depending on how experienced and how efficient you are.
So in my opinion, a moderate website developer should gain PHP and database implementation knowledge, JavaScript to some extent, HTML & CSS, and a designing talent would be favorable.
You have to learn everyday, for great design, learn from other designers, travel around for better ideas. I think I can earn better than my regular job as a web designer, and I am preparing for it very soon.
Skillful, knowledgeable, working hard. that will work, but..
Do I have to work all around the clock, this is what I do when developing a website, I'm not married, but for married people this will be unbearable.

I work as a web developer, 9-6
I maintain a site, and add features when they come in from the marketing team or the management.
