Hi guys,
This is my first time posting a question. I'm a complete beginner who is slowly working her way thru the w3.school.com tutorials, gradually learning about html, xhtml, etc as well as reading thru the previous forum posts.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction here:
I'm aiming to create/build my own website with xhtml etc. and have just bought my domain name. However, I dont have a web host yet.
Is it possible to create the site before signing up with a web host? For instance, is there anywhere you can paste your notepad coding to see what it looks like immediately?

Apologies if this has already been asked before - I tried to search for this, but couldnt see it anywhere.

Cheers

Yep, if you are running Windows 2000, XP Pro or some versions of Vista you can install a limited version of the MS webserver on your machine.

Or you can install Baby Web Server or one of the many WAMP packages there are around.

I use Notetab light which is their free version. They have a "view in browser" button which you can see how the page looks in your browser.

I use dreamweaver to design and code my sites. Of course, purists will tell you to do the coding manually but my dreamweaver simplifies the job. I am happy with that

Why is Dreamweaver so bad? I use it, and aside from a couple display errors, it's been a decent IDE for web design...

And remember there are many CMS (content management system) applications that are easy to customize and post your content which
will save money and time A small list of CMS:

1.Mambo
2.Joomla
3.drupal
4.xoomp
5.php-fusion
6. WordPress
7. Media Wiki
8. Liferay
9. TYPO3
10. Moodle
11. Dolphin
12. Pligg
13. Movable Type

my favorite joomla,Drupal i found some dis/advantages of it
Drupal:
main advantages: core CMS, Views, CCK, Organic Groups, & huge library of contributed modules.
Disadvantages: complex, needs more top quality themes, frequent security upgrades.

Joomla:
Main advantages: Professional standards, internationalization, customization.
Disadvantages: too many commercial products for Open Source development, difficult to learn.
