I'd say yes, they are a tad too big. I like the effect of each one though. And HOME is a little higher than the rest. No, doesn't look catoony. Looks nice. But what is that bottom thing? It sort of looks like a cut off picture?

I have to agree, I think the buttons are way too big.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the 'Visit my site' button, that's what your menu is for.

You also need some sort of introduction on your home page, give the spiders something to feed on

It looks like you may have changed the site based on the recommendations here, because I couldn't find the buttons you were talking about. I would recommend that the "mainsite" page be your actual home page, because when I clicked on the link you provided, I wasn't sure what my options were and at first impression it looked like you only had the slideshow available.

I don't think it looks cartoony at all, it's art. I like your work, especially "Dusk," very nice colors.

I would recommend on the mainsite making the navigation options bigger/bolder/easier to see and access, to give the visitor more control over where they want to go. Best of luck with the site!

Yes, the buttons are too big but my two larger complaints are that your masthead is isolated rather than an integral part of the design and that on your "websites" page, I think it would be better if the outlines for your thumbnails were all the same size rather than deeper for those with two line captions.
Nice art though.

The only nav buttons I see are the arrows. They are too big for my taste.
Mostly, though, I don't like the way the titles of the paintings are displayed. Too white... too black. Make the titles smaller and more subtle.
