To get found you need to have good content and you need to let people know about it.
Create a blog and make it your entry site. Then tweet about it. Be sure to tweet more that just your site, though. And don't tweet your site every few minutes, that's a sure way to drop followers. (plus be sure to follow others in a similar business. If you post a valuable response to an existing expert's tweet you can easily pick up followers.)
Make sure you have easy links to the major social networks on your blog, too. This way your visitors can share your site with their friends.
Become an expert in something. Participate in forums, write articles, and connect with other similar experts.
A good book to read is "What Would Google Do?" by Jeff Jarvis. It's got all sorts of insight into the new online economy.
