Hi all,

I am looking to sell a few products on my site. The main intent of the site would be to have customers contact us directly, however for customers looking to purchase small quantities or a one time purchase I would like to give them that option.

I have limited experience with html and css but I am willing to learn and intend to spend a good deal of time building this new site. My host offers OScommerce which I have never messed with.

I am just looking for some advice on what my best course of action might be?

Thanks,

Your host should have a how-to or set-up wizard that will walk you through the basics. Most also allow you to set up your catalog and shopping cart as a members only site so you can test it before going live.

You can also get a PayPal shopping cart if OScommerce is too complex or requires a merchant account. PayPal does have an easy to follow set-up wizard for their various purchasing options. You login to your PayPal account, go to Merchant Services, and select the type of button you want. They offer Add to Cart, Buy Now, Donate, Gift Certificate, and Subscribe.

Once you've entered the product information in their set-up page they generate an html code block that you copy into your website's catalog or product description page.

If you are a company and can afford to hire a professional I highly recommend it.

If you cant afford it I suggest staying away from OsCommerce based on what you wish to do and if you dont have a lot of skills.

osCommerce can be seen a mile away and does not give trust for the website "In my book" and I dont visit them whether there are good deals or not when there are so many competitors on the internet.

For what you want done, check into FatFree Cart or Mals eCommerce.
