Hi there,

I am a teacher and use powerpoint slides to try and teach language concepts to my students.

I would like to create different slide presentations within my main website that have one or two lines of text with the sound being me saying what they are reading. Once they have repeated what they have heard they can press a link to go to the next slide.

I would do this within Powerpoint, but the files can get a little big.

Is there a simple way to have an mp3 play automatically when you go to a page without knowing almost any code? I use Microsoft FrontPage. I tried adding a flash player for the code without any success.

Thanks for any help!

You can definitely get an mp3 to play automatically when the page loads. I wouldn't even know where to begin with Microsoft Frontpage though since I've never used it.

Here's a video showing several different audio players you can use. It's not going to be Frontpage stuff though and I'm not sure any of the these players automatically play the music. They might all require you to press play to get them to work.

Having someone press play might not be a bad idea though. I'm not sure your students would need to have the audio load right away. Controls are always nice so they can play the audio again too.

I'm not sure what your coding skills are so what's described in the video may be confusing. It's all hand coded kind of stuff. If it is confusing maybe you can ask someone to set this up for you on one page and then you can copy and paste the code from one page to the next. The only thing you should need to change on each page is the audio file being linked to.

Definitely have a press to play button. I usually open links in a new tab, so I don't like having the audio start right away.

Rather than going straight from PowerPoint, consider using MovieMaker and publishing to your computer as a WMV file. YouTube accepts this format if your webhost doesn't handle them.

Save each slide as an image. I suggest sequential filenames so they stay in order better.

Drag the slide files into windows MovieMaker, and put them in order in the storyboard.

Switch to timeline mode and use Tools > Add Narration to add the audio. You can adjust the length of each slide to correspond with the audio length.

Then publish to computer and upload to your site (or YouTube). Be sure to embed the videos or provide links to them.
