Hello everyone,

Concept Skateboarding is now paying for it self which is great, most of all i love learning from it. I got my first affiliate sale of $11 yesterday from a click bank product so its doing ok. When i say my next project i don't mean im moving on from Concept and i never will im going to be working on it harder than ever before.

Right so i have been looking in to my next project which will be a web hosting site (i understand the competition is huge in this market) im going to get the website perfect before i purchase re-seller hosting and a domain name.

I have been looking in to buying a template to start this website and im stuck between 4 templates. All are full sites and use CSS 3 are flash templates (html included) and 1 is a "static site" what exactly do they mean by this? fixed? im guessing they mean it doesnt move lol

http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23879.html

http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23879.html

http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23293.html

http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23607.html

http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/20391.html

I would love to here what template everyone likes more, Their all around the same price. My personal favorite is template 23607, i think the layout and color scheme is really nice. Every template has a external style sheet and will look the same in the main browsers (so he said)

I would love to here your honest opinions on buying from template monster, im a little scared about how complicated there coding will be.

If i do buy the template im going to upload it to my concept domain to test it etc and edit it offline untill its perfect. Im going to host concept under that package if its possible and learn everything about WHM before advertising.

Just a couple of questions:

- what do you think of the template?
- Is it a good or stupid idea?
- Does anyone have any experience with the HostGator re-seller program?
- Could i host concept skateboarding on a re-seller package at no extra cost?

Thanks a lot everyone

Jack

The real problem you are facing here is, you need to buy the unique license. You see, while you start up this site, someone else could be doing the same. This is how sites like that really make money. Multiple people can buy the same template over and over again, or one person can buy the unique template just for themselves. Which would give them complete ownership over the template and content within it. (Making it possible for them to legally force you to remove your own.)

So, you might be better off just getting a free template somewhere and making it better as you go. Y'know? Rather than dropping $65 dollars on that.

You figure, you're going to be going into a high competition field. If someone can buy something from under you, they will.

I hope this helps you out some.

Also, to host through a re-seller, without having to pay for your own space, I don't think it's possible. However, I do think you would only have to do it 'at cost' instead of paying full price, since you would only be paying yourself the profit margin.

Thanks so much for your reply! very helpful information. The thing is what are the chances? i mean how would they be able to find my website? also if they did find my site would they really take legal action? these are the questions im left with. I totaly see your point and it has opened my eyes a lot!

Hm well any profits made go to the owner of the re-seller package the cost is $23,00 per month but if i set up concept on my package shortly the money comes back to me?

Also im really confused with there previews because they have one called adobe photoshop screenshot and html screenshot. So is the adobe one with flash and the html without flash?

Edit here is another one http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23607.html

Thanks for your reply

It is no problem at all ^^.

You see, the chances are low right now, unless someone really wants that template all to themselves, and has serious money. However, as you grow, competitors will look at you more and more, eventually someone could find out that you bought the template and try to do something that silly to you.

As far as the Adobe/Html preview. One is showing you the non-working Photoshop mockup of the site, the potential of it.

The other is showing you the HTML mock up, what you would see in the browser from the .html file.

As far as the money, yeah you are pretty much paying yourself. At least the profit part. So in the end it would come out cheaper ^^.

This can still be worth it for you. But, you must make sure you do the HTML version just right. That way the search engines can pick you up. That means you really need to look into SEO, Syndication, eCommerce, etc... Seeing as you only need a few sites to host to keep you afloat. You need to make sure the equipment you are re-selling is also geared for your target audience (Game servers, Web Site servers, Forum Community Servers...)

You've still got quite a bit to think about, aside from the template, before you should get this going in full. The money is there, but you need to make sure you can earn it before you go in full force ^^.

Very nice layout.

My only concern would be how fast it loads.

Nice layout!

Thanks for your reply and book marking my site! yeah im also worried about that but it comes with the html as well.

Vexar

Yeah i get your point and that is certinaly a concern, your very right and have a lot of knowledge on this. So that means it will look exactly how it does on the photoshop preview? Yeah thats good then.

Yeah man i think im going to go for this, yeah i agree that is vital for SEO and anyone who doesnt have flash (small % these days but still important). Just out of interest what do you mean by syndication and ecommernce? When you say equipment you mean disk space, bandwidth, e commernce solutions, forum solutions etc? Yeah man that makes sense.

Yeah can't agree more hopfully by the time i start the re-seller program concept will be turning over a bit more im going to be editing this localy untill its perfect before i start and i will be writing a business plan

Thanks again

By web syndication I mean putting up a blog on server management or some sort of updating content on your site. If not, provide a forum for your clients to post on for live support and the likes. This way you can also tie in sites like Digg, and Twitter. This will produce traffic like no other, because you get worked into larger groups and eventually build up your traffic through a virtual word of mouth.

By eCommerce I mean, knowing how to market online. What your target audience is and the likes, and how to reach out to them. In this case, making sure your equipment is right for the consumer is vital. Yes, bandwidth, ram, connection speeds and all.

I'd give this Web Syndication Wiki a look over as well as this eCommerce wiki.

Also the last link you submitted is my favorite so far. Less cluttered, easier on the eyes, and a bit more flow to it. (Not so bright either.)

Also, the Photoshop Screenshot is an image with text done in photoshop. The html, I believe, is still just a blank html. I'm not so sure about what CSS they may or may not include with it. I'd contact them to be sure before slamming down $64 on it.

Oh i see yes, thats a really good idea. Yeah im going to have to sit down and come up with a marketing plan.

Yeah i get you now, whenever i think of E Commerce i think of online stores. I will take a look at them now.

I agree with you there is more color and it looks so clean. I think im favoring the second one more although the best thing about the first is the computer image!

Oh yeah thats clear now because on my site the whole layout only uses 1 image which is the top the rest os html/css. Yeah good idea, im really hopping that it uses an external style sheet. but i will ask them about that.

Thanks again
