Hi,
What would be the best software for a review site, that allows people to add their businesses and also allow people to rate those businesses?

Well, there are lots of different kinds of "software" that can do that. Are you talking about development language (as in PHP or ASP) or are you talking about development software (such as dreamweaver, textmate, e text editor, notepad, aptana, etc.)? I personally like to use a beefed-up text editor to develop my sites on (e-text editor for Windows, textmate for Apple). As for my language of choice, I use PHP mostly, although I have done a few things in ASP here and there when a client requested it.

Are you looking for some pre-built package or something that has this functionality already or are you looking to get a custom application built? There are lots of different ways you could go with this, could you be a bit more specific?

Not sure if you are planning to build one yourself or you want to get one prebuild.

If you looking to build one yourself I would say use PHP or ASP (my preference would be asp).

But if you looking for a prebuild website have a look at joomla (just google it) and I am quite sure it also has free plugins for what you need

joomla is a free prebuild website

sorry guys, i should have been more descriptive
I'm after a pre built website, so basically i just have to content and graphics.
I'll check out joomla and see if they have something easy to use.

You can also try Drupal(drupal.org), also very good. Both will have pre-made templates to use.

You should look for a site template that is set up for review type of site and they will most likely have some plugins, etc. already installed that you will need for reviews, etc.

Not the easiest "first" site to tackle with these type of CMS's, but if you work at it, you'll get it.

Agreed, Wordpress does have some plugins that come close to doing a review site but Drupal is more set up for that type of thing. I also must make a review site. Still deciding between drupal or self made in php, but I am somewhat young to php yet. I am waiting for a book on drupal to come though. The online help for drupal is not a s good as the wordpress help you can get IMO.
