Hi,

I am having a little trouble with a website I run. Only recently this has started happening, I don't know why ! Anywayz, the problem is, when I upload the new version of a page, I still see the old one. This happens on every computer I view it on. I tried looking at the old version, uploading the new one on various computers, but the same thing happened every time. It is as though the old web page is being saved to the viewers computer, making them unable to see the new version.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks for your time

Andy

heylo there,

sounds like some sort of browser cache is happening. a cache is where the browser remembers the content of the page so that it doesnt have to load it up next time.

How are you uploading your files?

I had the same problem once, and it was because i went to ftp.mydomain.com and did it though the windows built in ftp thingy, but after downloading a program ( www.smartftp.com is a good one) it worked fine.

Good luck,

Sean

You might also look as how you're connected - - If you have a 56 Kb connection and have decided to use one of those 'connect 5x faster' with this program - - you can stop looking. Those things write a 'super cache' to your hard drive and refuse to go to the website for a new page....

I installed one - tested it and uninstalled it within 10 minutes....

I've seen this happen on one of the sites we developed a while back. We worked it out was the isp who was cacheing the file. To get round it we deleted the old file off the server. Gave it a few minutes for the caches to update then uploaded the new one.
Did the trick for us.
