Obviously I can't do this myself, but are there any good "free" services, or cheap services that allow Search Function Abilities?

So far, I've found freefind.com which has a free option and the cheapest plan is $5 Monthly, which will have no Ad's it says.

I don't need a Search Function that is huge, just one big enough to handle about a 100 Page Site, and about 20,000-30,000+ Visitors on a Yearly Basis.

why dont you use a prebuild CMS ? like joomla or wordpress for your website. and then use their search script. i think that should help you.

you can also have a google search box that only searches under your domain. it could even be profitable if you use the adsense version

Well, i thought about giving him that suggestion but a google search box takes it away from the website.

thats why i don't personally like it that much.

A search must make sure that you are inside the website only.

Anyways. Google Search is heplful when your website has many pages indexed as well and also earns you something.

I guess as in many other situations, Google may be of great help here.

Well if you know PHP and SQL then it's not that hard to make a very very simple search engine, especially if you use tags on every one of you pages, if you feel like going though all 100 of them and making tags for them.

If you want to perfect it then read the source code of CMSs like wordpress and forum scripts.

The google search for 'search php script' returns tutorials on how to make your own, and some that you can install. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=
I've never used any of these but there's:
http://www.sphider.eu/ -- seams popular, in most of those results. http://www.hotscripts.com/category/p...earch-engines/

Anyone used that sphider? Any good?

Oh and google is a very good search engine, if you care about nothing but quality of the searches then go for google. Usually I use google instead of forum searches and searches on other sites because I'm familiar with it and it can find me what I want usually in the first search.

click on your name and your profile will show up. then click on the tab labeled My questions and it will show you only your own questions. Same thing for answers. There is an answers tab too.

I love Freefind - the adverts on the free version aren't all that obtrusive, you can get them to spider your site frequently and they send you regular reports on what users have been searching for.
