I am making a small website (around 5-8 pages) for a small business. I am using HTML and CSS to make it. I will be making a template for the site, and it may have some drop down menus. The goal of the website is to have information about the business, products will NOT be sold on the site. I have only done a few other websites, so I am not that advanced of a coder yet, but am learning more.

Would anyone be able to give me a ballpark estimate on what I should charge for the website?

pip751,

It's always difficult to price web work, especially freelance work.

Short answer, $1000. That's what I would start with on that, and go up.

Take a moment to read these articles, they will help answer you're question.

Hope this helps.

I'd have to measure the quality of your work before I could recommend a price range. Can we see what you've done ?

Never charge low buddy, customers can think that you are not a good web designer if you charge low and when someone else chargers 3x more than you so they pay more thinking he is much better than you...

I think $1000 is a good starting price too. Also take into account how many hours it will actually take you to make it. Think about how much you want to be paid per hour and multiply that by the number of hours you will need. You'll end up with a good base price.

here is a site I have done

http://www.mndakcirclek.org/index.html

I used a template to make it, and there are still a few things to fix, I am thinking of doing something different for this business site, maybe one column and have a menu along the top.

I am currently trying to figure out how to make my own templates with photoshop

I think you are apt enough to charge a decent fee. Try not to under-sell yourself, but still consider the clients needs.

What I do is take the client about there needs. Then give them a price to put the site together. I base this on the kind of site they are looking for and how much work I estimate it will take. From there I charge an hourly rate to make the final adjustments and apply any changes they want made.

I guess it also depends on your skill level but you do need to make a living. I do not charge less then $1,500 for any website which are 6 pages or more.

You should start at about $500 and increase as your skills improve.

Look at what the other web designers in your area charge. For our town, another web designer who's high up in the serps charges £450 for a 5 page web site and so we pretty much have to do the same.
