this question is really stupid, I know...but, I'm italian so I don't want to choose the wrong expression.

I have a first page of a website (the usually first page with a large image and the name of the site) and I don't know what expression to use in order to push the user to click to enter the site

here is the site:
http://www.ingeborg-fridrich.com/

in the bottom-right corner I write "Enter" and I made all the page clickable.

any idea about this argument???

i totally agree with chrishirst splash pages are very annoying... the visitor just wants to see your page and not have to go through a page to enter it... many people will just leave at the splash screen

I agree with Chris intro pages annoy people nowadays and you can lose a lot of visitors and sales by having one. Just let people go right to the home page, simple as that.

I agree with the above me. If you must(!!) do it, use this:

Do not click here! Clicking here will send you to a site you are not allowed to see...

You might want to look into making the text and background colors a little more contrasting. Right now the text is not legible, but it doesn't stand out in any way. if you are going to have a portfolio site, you should have some of your work showcased right on the front page.and the color is so complex..

Just echoing everyone else's opinion. Splash pages serve zero purpose, unless you're running a porn site or some other kind of adult material that you would want visitors to verify their age before they enter. If not, can the idea of a splash page.

Yes you can say "click to enter" - but I personally would redesign your site so that you eliminate this page. It's annoying to humans - they have to go through an extra step to get to the page they really want - and I believe it's bad for seo as well.

It is just simply terrible for search engine optimization.

It is simple as that.

Just don't do it.

If you must do it, do it in a manner that search engines will ignore, such as Flash, or a JavaScript generated overlay which just sits over the normal content then disappears when clicked on.
