i'm new to fireworks and have just designed a really cool looking mouseover navagation bar . and so far from what i've read in books all i have to do is to optimize and export . so i did. the file save in a new folder with all the images and the notes and the one .html file .
then i went to dreamweaver click on the fireworks button in the insert panel a window opens ask me for the .html so i browosed to the folder and click on the the .hrml file
but when i press ok dreamweaver tells me that what i had is not a fireworks html file
i've tried to figure this thing out all night ... still the same . can anyone tell me what i did wrong ? or what step i'm missing ! or importing from fireworks to dreamweaver just a pain in the *** impossible

I've had this problem before, here's what to do:

You need to export the file again, but this time:

-open the export window
-and before you click 'save', click options.
-select the 'general' tab.
-select 'Dreamweaver HTML' in the 'HTML style' drop down box and click 'OK'.
-now, when you put it into Dreamweaver, it should recognise it.

It worked for me and it's probably the same problem.

the pop up window in dreamweaver says that

The Selected file is not the correct format.
please select an HTML file which was exported from fireworks

i've ttried to change the file name to .htm .HTML and so on and none of them work ...

well this reply is for anyone that has the same problem and don't know how to deal with it .
if you have dreamweaver mx and fireworks mx 2004 none of your fireworks's export will work in dreamweaver to solve this problem go check out the link below ... tx to the frendly helpers at macromedia fireworks forum
