i think i'm just stupid i really am not getting this part

"Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable by all (666 or -rw-rw-rw- within your FTP Client)"

and as i try to ftp upload the whole forder via dreamweaver to my site this message showed up

" An FTP error occurred - cannot put .htaccess.553 - the name you specified is not allowed "

does this have to do what i quoted above ???
what should i do ??? man i hate to ask this cauz it seems all of ya thinks it's darn easy and here i'm asking all the stupid questions

Did you try to upload a file called ".htaccess.553"? Normally there is just ".htaccess" without the 553 at the end. The 553 looks like the permission code, anyway.

Via FTP, you can define what type of user can read, write and execute a file. This is done by setting permissions with a three digit number like 777, 666, etc. I won't go into much detail, suffice to say that in Dreamweaver ftp, right click on the files in the target server and you can probably set the permissions. I don't know exactly, since I use Aceftp to upload stuff

I am not sure this is very related here but I have found this place where I have my forum http://www.setbb.com/ . Its phpbb, its free(but there are some google adds on it, which dont bother me), it has unlimited users, unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth. Probably not something for professionals like you guys, but for the rest of us mortal users its good

hey great news i got phpbb all set up and running just d/l some smileys and a new skin for it .
man i'm glad it's over .. for me it's the hardest part of the whole site !!!
let's hope i get better at it
