I have a couple people that want me to create and maintain sites for them. One of them will be an ecommerce site backed by a database, but not huge. I have no idea what to charge to first create the site, and then what is a fair monthly fee to maintain it.

Anyone know of what is fair?

I recently made a web site for the local golf club. It was simple CSS and XHTML, and I charged 600$ CAN. From what I heard from my teachers at school, it wasn't even close to enough. But you gotta start building a portfolio somewhere .

it depends with the design your making, how many hours you put in it, if the coding is hard to do, etc etc etc...
