Recommend wysiwyg software?

I have no website design experience other than playing with frontpage.

Could someone recommend some design software.

I just want a basic photo gallery type webpage to showcase my work and
possibly in the future add an area where I could sell plans for my projects.

Thanks for your time.

Kevin.

If I had to I use dreamweaver, I had to pick it up on a moment's notice but I got the handle on it very easily, but then of course you want to learn the normal way. But yeah dreamweaver should suffice...

Dreamweaver is probably the best choice for you.

The actual best choice would be to learn how to code it yourself, but if you don't have the time or want, then it just isn't going to be learned.

My vote goes for Dreamweaver, if you are familiar with frontpage.
Another choice could be another product from Microsoft which changed Frontpage...

Unfortunately I can't recommend any WYSIWYG. The one's I've tried all have problems such as code bloat, tables, etc. What I've done is learn HTML and CSS then use Notepad++

Thank you very much for the advice.

Are there any dreamweaver tutorials you would recommend?

Thanks,

Kevin.

I use Expression for a WYSIWYG editor but then I create a photo gallery using CSS. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but if you look at the source code for http://www.uniquewebsites.co.uk/web-...-portfolio.htm and then at my css style sheet: http://www.uniquewebsites.co.uk/styl...ites-style.css you should be able to see what I've done. http://www.w3schools.com/Css/default.asp give you a good intro to css.
http://www.webmaster-talk.com/websit...galleries.html gives you an overview of other image gallery software

WYSIWYG on a whole produce poor code but by far the best and most in depth is dreamweaver (although alot of people hate it purely because how popular it is).

I would always recommend that you hand code everything that way if a problem arises you know what to do, where if you did your site in a WYSIWYG you would have no idea what code its wrote.

Also if you just want a gallery why don't you use a free gallery script? That way you can edit everything online and no need for software.

Hello,

There are plenty of WYSIWYG (What You See Is You Get) programs out there that you can use to build your own website without you having to know all the technical portions of how build one. These programs are designed especially for non-technical people who don't know or don't want to learn HTML/CSS. These programs use drag-n-drop technology and makes it easy for a newbie to build their own website.

Macromedia is DEAD, absorbed by ADOBE.

I don't typically recommend any WYSIWYG editor for beginners, because, well, if something goes wrong, you won't know anything about the code to FIX it. On a whole, ALL of them produce some really ugly code. Dreamweaver is the industry standard, CS4 is the latest version, but you WILL pay a hefty price for it. CoffeeCup is a reasonably priced alternative. ExpressionWeb, like everything else from Microsoft, is over priced as well.

I started off learning code and then moved to a WYSIWYG. The WYSIWYG program I am currently working with is called "WYSIWYG Web Builder 6". If you google it there are download mirrors everywhere. Its a great program and it generates fairly fast pages. It will cost you about $40 but there is a 30 day free trial if you want to give it a go. The great thing about this editor is its drag and drop, and you can still insert code like html or php into it. After you're finished with the design, I would highly recommend having a experienced designer look it over and approve before you publish it. Good Luck

When I first started off I "taught myself" HTML and css via some free online guides and things, as I had heard such "bad" things about WYSIWYG. I tried kompozer for awhile (which I liked) but ultimately ended up back doing my own HTML. I have only recently started using XSitePro which is a breeze for newbies....

A vote here for Dreamweaver, too. But it's always good to check the code and know what you are doing. WYSIWIG doesn't replace thorough or at least more than basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
