Hello
I am planning to create a new website.
I was thinking of using free templates.
Heard a lot of reviews that they are not safe.
Is is true?
Someone please advice me on this.
Thanks

Don't worry there is no harm in using free templates.

that has the bold flavor you love, but doesn't give you heartburn or cause stomach problems.

Are you talking about its security?
about features?
or about some other issues?
But in my opinion there is a little lack of freedome in using features of our own choice. Why you want to use free templates?

I have used templates that come with website builder and RVsitebuilder. I haven't had any problems.

Because not everyone has the spare time, budget or knowledge to build a custom template.

It's possible only if it were some sort of e-commerce script you were getting for free from some warez (underground) website but if the template/website is static then I cannot see how there would be a security problem.

So unless you're planning on starting up a website with sensitive information such as credit cards; I wouldn't be too concerned - just some common sense would suffice (ie; your website password isn't "domain" or"password" )

Free templates should be 100% safe. Now as JSTYLISH said, if it is a nulled script, than it is possible (still not likely), that it isn't safe. But if you find a free website template it should be 100% secure.

Now, you may have heard that plugins make Joomla less safe, but that is because if it is not coded properly, it could have holes and open possible places for hackers to invade through. But I have never heard of a template being unsafe.

I also googled it, unsafe website templates, and nothing came up. So if I were you I wouldn't concern myself over it.

They're safe.

Alot of them have annoying footer links though.. some of which are encrypted. You might want to get rid of those.

How they can't be safe? What they can get from your website if you are using their templates? You have the license and they cannot do any thing!!

Don't bother and go ahead with using them.
