What do you do when you wake up one day and all the sudden your designs have gone to crap and you are left uninspired?

Go for a walk, look for inspiration in the real world. Go to an art exhibit, an art museum, or anything that would spark your inspiration.

Look at magazines, catalogs, different print designs as well. The elements and principles of good design remain much the same between print and web.

Yeah, you really just need to find some designs you like and re-inspire yourself.

I agree with the 'getting away' idea. It usually works for me. Either that or eat some spinach!

I'll take a walk, go get something to eat, browse google and look at other sides.

Basically I try to get some blood flowing (walking ect) and get some stimuli (viewing sites/magazines/photos) I find that usually gets my mind working a little better

I usually take a break, get something to eat and drink, browse through some web design magazines laying around and search Google for sites similar to what I'm working on. Generally out of that I'll find something useful to help me continue working.

Look at web design portfolios from web designers around the world. Make a note of all the designs you like under different categories - eg interesting mastheads, interesting navigation, interesting use of texture etc.

I would instead suggest you to get behind the task with more intensity.I would not recommend you to either take a break nor would I suggest to take a quick nap.Believe me with my experience, you cannot enjoy the quick nap nor a walk until the task is completed, you would still keep thinking of the design.
Instead try and find some inspirational websites over the site.Jot down some rough ideas and concepts suitable for your design, only then you can take a break and fix on the design the next day with full enthusiasm.
Hope this is useful.

When I get stuck like that, I know it's time to step away from the computer and do something else for at least 24 hours. Sometimes longer if I'm deep in a rut. Over the years, I've found that vigorous activity (running, weight lifting, biking) "heals" my mind better.
