im just starting out with web design. Im using Macromedia Studio MX 2004 and Adobe Photoshop. ive created some images in Fireworks and converted it to a Jpeg using Photoshop. the images have been put into a table and all looks well until i try to preveiw the page in my browser ( i use AOL and Iexplorer) the page that the browser shows is blank with only a feint outline of where the images should be and a red cross in the top left corners. i dont know what im doing wrong as this hasnt happened before
along the lines of what snake said. either you have direct links to them link http://www.yoursite.com/somepicture.jpg rather than having them as just somepicture.jpg. If that is not the case you may have the links point in the wrong direction. something along the lines of file:///hardisk/Users/ethan/Sites/blog/somepicture.jpg
ive double checked the links to the picture and they are correct. i dont know about uploading the picture tothe server , on a previous site i designed i didnt upload the pics and they displayed fine

You must have uploaded the images or else maybe you had the image addresses pointing to your hard drive like this file://localhost/C:/my sites/site1/picture.jpg in which case you would see the picture (loading of your hard drive) but nobody else would.
When you preview your site you are viewing it off the hard drive. So the links should either be relative (images/file.jpg) or local (file://localhost/C:/mysite/images/file.jpg). When you upload your pages to the server, you must upload the images too. The links would then nead to point to the images on the server. If you have been using relative links (images/file.jpg) then there will be no alteration required. However if you have been using a local address then you will have to edit that to point to your site (http://www.example.com/images/file.jpg)
