If you have some of the following as a part of your website design, you can be sure that visitors to your site find it annoying.

1. Background music - it is only for an internet radio or a site that sells CDs.
2. Huge font size - the kind that shouts at you. Keep in mind that no one likes being shouted at.
3. Small font size - the exact opposite of being shouted at i.e. huge font size. If, you wish to be heard, a normal tone at a reasonable volume is required.
4. Layers that overlap are 'too much in your face' message screaming. Subtle persuasion is far better than employing sheer 'brute force'.
5. Popup windows - even while these are blocked by add on tools, certain website designs continue to employ them. Why not place your important messages in a central part of your web design rather than trying to get them across with the help of irritating pop-ups.

Another good rule that I've been seeing more of lately... DON'T TYPE ENTIRE PARAGRAPHS IN ALL CAPS! Please just don't. Ever.

I would say no to background music all together. If someone wants to hear something, they should first have the option to click play.

Great Tips! I think bg music is a big yuck! when it comes to viewing websites, but I have to admit, some sites that had bg music complimented the site well.

I have to hate the little soundbits over links and other parts of flash on the site. Very annoying

Also videos that start when you enter the website and lot of Flash are to be avoided.

Perhaps not, but text in all caps is annoying and more difficult to read than properly capitalised text.

Excellent Website Tips. Though I am familiar to the most of the tips and also had used some of the tips. These tips really give the good results when we are implementing. I hope many members will be benefited by using these tips.

Add to that animated gifs that keep going and going and going while you are trying to read content! If you are going to use any kind of animated gifs, set them up to cycle once or twice and stop - it can be done.

Ah, I forgot about the ads that fill your screen and have a well-hidden "close" button. Those are a mess!

This is the some tip that every web designer should follow..
  • There are computers with all kinds of resolution, there range from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 and go even higher, design your site for all these resolutions.
  • To do this you need to have clear navigation.
  • If the font you can use is not existing in a visitors computer to the web site will be the default font of your computer which is much inferior, so do not use Comic Sans and other fancy fonts that may not be existing on most computers.
  • Make sure your site is browser compatible, means your web site should look good in any browser.
  • Use a lot of white space on your site because white space give a common sense of largeness and overall efficiency to a site.
  • Normally simple designs are the most effective for your web site, don't use the bulky and big size image.
  • Always check for not working links within a site before uploading it to your web server.
