I need to create a website that has a blog. I am looking for solutions. I was going to create the site and create the blog using something like wordpress but that would mean 2 sites. I want to create a blog for them where they can upload there own information. Can anyone make a suggestion of what I should do, or what they have done.

As far as I know, you have to basically have one of each and integrate the blog into the site by basic linking.

WordPress can run the entire site. You create posts for the blog and pages for the site pages outside the blog. Look at the first link in my signature. My entire site is a single WordPress install.

Most sites I develop now end up on WordPress, even the ones that don't have a blog.

Thanks, my concern with word press is learning something new. I have to do something now. But when the customer asked about blogs that seem to be the best solution for that part.

Any other ideals?

I have gone with Wordpress for the blog while the main website is independant of Wordpress. But you can go with a combination that suits you, either entirely using wordpress or just using it for the blog. Building a good quality blog from scratch is much harder than using a readymade tool, I would suggest using Wordpress atleast for the blog.

try to create another page for article sections...creating new section from the site, it help in getting content.

using Wordpress is a good choice.. about your problem,i would go for David101's suggestion where you create another page for your article or blog sections. In that way, it will not be difficult for you to provide your customer's request..

If you're going to add a blog anyway and if you're going to use WordPress for that blog you might as well build the whole site with it. The learning curve to go from blog added on a site to using WP to run the whole site is about 15 minutes. It really isn't that hard.

On the other hand if you don't have to add the blog right away you can build the site however you would do it and learn WordPress so you can add at it as a blog attached to the rest of the site. After that you can turn the site outside of the blog into WordPress pages if you want.

Well you need Wordpress for sure! You can have different homepage and blog page also in wordpress!

You may need to research more on wordpress... Wordpress has come a long long way from being just your typical blog. Yes its the best blogging tool currently out today but it can do so much more than a blog .. nowadays you can run a eccomerce site, a members only site...etc..

Yeah wordpress is my recommendation also. It's easy to learn, and is the best option avail right now. You can meet all of your needs with WP and shouldn't need 2 separate sites. Plus there are a lot of cool themes for wordpress, some are free, and others have a fee,...but still relatively inexpensive for all that you get.

With WordPress you can create a blog with PAGES that are listed in a dropdown menu at the top of your site. Then, the contributions can take the form of POSTS - these will be listed on the home page. This would be the case if you install the blog in the root directory. Going to your home page would land you on the blog.

You can also have a separate home page with listings to static pages and put your blog in a subdirectory. You can do this with WordPress as well but this would have to be a WordPress.org blog that your server hosts.

Either way, you will probably will want a blog hosted on a server as opposed to the free wordpress.com blog. You can not advertise on the free blog.

I suggest using one of the free services to get a basic feel for .... Basically what they do is read the article that I write and find ... So, if you know that ChristianPF is a blog, then you have a head start on me. ..... Next I heard that the best thing to do was to blend them into the site.
